The gender reveal trends we expect to see in 2026

It seems that each year, gender reveals continue to evolve each year, as parents get more and more creative with their announcements! Around 60% of parents now celebrate through a gender reveal event, while twice as many parents are deciding to find out a baby’s gender ahead of time when compared to pre-2020.

Minimalist and nature-inspired reveals

Couples appear to be moving away from the traditional colors of blue and pink when it comes to gender reveals. Earthy, more neutral colors (such as reds, greens, whites, and browns) and gender-neutral palettes are becoming increasingly common for both decor and reveal themes, making these events cozy and inclusive!

Intimate, smaller reveals

Many families are also choosing smaller, more intimate reveal moments rather than large parties. Reveals such as balloon popping around your closest friends or family, or cutting a white cake became very popular with expectant parents in 2025, and we expect this to continue this year!

Biodegradable confetti

Did you know a lot of parents are also being more environmentally conscious when revealing their baby’s gender? For example, many families are choosing to use biodegradable confetti, which is just as magnificent but reflects a greener, more sustainable way to announce the gender of their child.

Story-driven, thematic announcements

In 2025, parents were tapping into some cool, cute themes when announcing their baby’s gender for the first time! If you’re looking to do your own announcement, you could tie it into your interests (like traveling or gaming) or feature some cool celestial or nature-inspired graphics and decor to add an additional personal touch to such an intimate moment.

A bee-utiful moment

Here at Baby Smiles, we love a bee theme, and it appears so do many parents too! It was a big trend that emerged in baby showers across the world last year, with the phrase ‘what will baby bee?’ often seen across social media channels like Instagram and TikTok. This was often matched with soft honey and brown colors on decor, with some parents going all out with bee piñatas and cakes!
