The Fall season is a beautiful time of the year! As leaves brown and cozy sweater begins to be pulled out of closets, it’s a magical season for your baby to be born into.

If you’re coming to term and about to give birth, here are three intriguing facts you should know about children born in Fall:

Scholastic success

Firstly, you may have a brainiac on your hands! Within the UK, a report from the Department of Education found that children born in this season are far more likely to reach a “good level of development” before those born in Summer.

Children born in Fall are typically the oldest in their school year, giving them great cognitive and social development skills by the time they start school.

Future sportspeople

Did you know that babies born between late September to early December also show amazing cardiovascular fitness, strength, and jumping abilities as they get older?

A study from the International Journal of Sports Medicine found that children born in Fall often performed 10-15% better in athletic skill tests than the rest of their classmates!

Smiling, happy babies

Research also shows that babies born in Fall often tend to be happier and less likely to be depressed than other babies.

However, parents be warned: they are also prone to be irritable, so expect a few tears now and then!

Here at Baby Smiles we’ve been delighted to have supported so many mothers expecting their Fall babies! For anyone interested in growth monitoring or a follow-up scan before the birth, we can offer a package to give you reassurance. Read more about this here.
